The Belgian Clément Geens wrote history this morning by qualifying with Benjamin Tison for the round of XNUMX of the World Padel Tour amsterdam open.
Indeed, this is the first time that a Belgian has won a previas final and qualified for the final draw of a WPT tournament (for girls, Helena Wyckaert has already done so several times).
And as happiness never comes alone, Geens has a good chance of also becoming the first player from the Plat Pays to reach the round of XNUMX of a tournament in World Padel Tour, since he and Benjamin Tison will be favourites in their first round against Maarsen / Van Opstal, a local pair having obtained a wild-card.
If he wins, Tison will also become the first Frenchman to achieve such a performance. And in the event of defeat for the Franco-Belgian pair, it will be a first for Dutch players. It is therefore a historic first round whatever happens which will take place Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in Amsterdam!
