We experienced an event in the semi-final of the P2 in Puerto Cabello yesterday when Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto took the first round at the expense of Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia.

A thunderous start to the match

Already in the quarter-finals twice this year, Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz were able to enter the last four this time with a huge spirit of revenge. The Spaniards have already suffered a defeat at the Qatar Major where the world number ones showed themselves mercilessly (6/2 – 6/2).

Nieto/Sanz signed the first break in the first set, without being able to confirm. The Madrilenian gave Tapia a hard time diagonally, pushing him to make a mistake. And it was the native of Pamplona who pierced Coello on a bandeja to pocket the first set after 45 minutes of play. This is the first set lost by Coello and Tapia since their defeat in the Riyadh final.

A brutal return to reality

Galvanized, Nieto/Sanz will quickly become disillusioned. Arriving at two games everywhere, Coello and Tapia shifted into higher gear, as they were able to do since the start of the season. Result: ten consecutive games recorded for world number ones. The Spaniards were knocked out standing, without any solution in the face of the power and magic of this pair.

Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz suffered a severe 6/2 – 6/0 in an hour of play and ended up on their knees, both physically and mentally. This clearly illustrates the gap in level that Rey Arturo and the Mozart of Catamarca are capable of creating, even against a team full of confidence and progress.

Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will try this night to score a sixteenth consecutive victory and a third trophy in a month against the newcomers, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan.
