Lucile Pothier and Jessica Ginier opened the ball this Wednesday morning at the Palais des Sports André-Brouat for the 16th finals of the Human Padel Open. They faced the Spaniards Marta Talavan and Lorena Rufo, but unfortunately the French players were stopped early in the game.

A great battle in the first round

It was a first in the main draw of a tournament in the World Padel Tour for Jessica Ginier and Lucile Pothier. And the beginnings are always difficult, especially when you play in front of your audience. From the start of the first game, the French conceded their first service game. However, they reacted quickly. On Marta Talavan's serve, Jessica and Lucile redoubled their efforts and came back tied. A fierce battle ensued where the French succeeded in standing up to their adversaries. Players coached by Johan Bergeron disrupted Marta Talavan and Lorena Rufo. The latter showed indiscipline and struggled to develop their game.

Just when we thought Jessica and Lucile might take the lead, they went through a rough patch at 3/3. The French have committed 8 unforced errors out of the 10 points played. The Spaniards finally took over and won the first round with a score of 6/3.

The step was too high for Jessica and Lucile

Indeed, little by little, the dynamic was reversed. The Spaniards gained power and reduced their unforced errors. Jessica Ginier and Lucile Pothier began to be dominated by Spanish players. While in the first set, the French managed to hold off the Spaniards, in the second set, the task became more difficult. Marta Talavan and Lorena Rufo picked up the pace and it was impossible to catch them. Despite great performances on the center court of the Palais des Sports André-Brouat, the French players had to admit defeat in 1h05, with a score of 6/3 6/1. The competition was too tough and the French players were eliminated.
