Extreme padel is one of the reference sites in France. As with many actors, the year 2023 was rich in lessons, with the total explosion of padel.

As part of this year's review, Jérôme Decock, founder of Extreme Padel and Bertrand Maniere, sales manager, returned on the beginnings of the Extreme site Padel and on its future development.

From Extreme Tennis to Extreme Padel

We started with Extreme Tennis in 2008. THE padel, it’s a sport that I experienced in 2012 abroad. I looked to see if there were any in France and found them near Lille. Afterwards, it went its way. It started happening in the area and we ourselves started playing it around 2019-2020. We implemented it on Extreme Tennis and we saw that it took quite well.

In 2019, we started to have products, first with tennis brands which developed products padel. Then we continued with specialist brands : Nox, Bullpadel, etc. We no longer wanted to confine our products padel to a small tab of Extreme Tennis. It was gaining momentum and while playing it, we quickly understood why. So that made us want to create the second entity.

In addition, there was Covid and le padel started to expand really well. It was therefore in 2021 that we thought about separating Extreme Tennis and Extreme Padel. The following year, in May 2022, we launched the Extreme site Padel and today the team plays more padel than in tennis.

An encouraging turnover

On Extreme Tennis, we have not closed the tab padel because it still exists hybrid players, who manage to combine tennis and padel.

We are still far from tennis turnover, but it is increasing. That said, we feel that around padel, there is a real craze. Today, we have 20% of the turnover which is carried out by the padel.

Extreme Padel, it’s 11% of Extreme Tennis’ turnover. But as there is always padel on Extreme Tennis, people buy through this entry route. So, in total, the cumulative would be 20%.

An export to Italy?

We are in the process of completely redoing the technical structure of the site to have something that is a little more user-friendly, more efficient and more optimized in terms of SEO.

We will also have a redesign to create an extremepadel.it, to enter the Italian market, which is booming. Logically, we should enter there in January.

We know the Italian market because we have a small Extreme Tennis subsidiary there. This seemed quite coherent to us, when we see the figures in Italy. This is the first big part. In 2024, we also want to be a little more present on the networks.

The black spot of 2023

The only thing that was detrimental in 2023, these are overstocks. Following the shortages, everyone panicked a little because, when we received 50 rackets, it took one or two days to sell them and we couldn't have more quantities.

We are strongly committed to 2023, except everyone was overstocked. There were too many rackets on the market and prices went out of control. We have a year in 2023 where prices have been absolutely massacred. We are starting to return to normal prices.

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
