As we told you previously, the International Tennis Federation, which wanted to try to take over the governance of the padel to the detriment of the FIP, has suffered a crushing defeat Monday at its Annual General Meeting.

Indeed, ITF members overwhelmingly voted against this takeover attempt. Among those who opposed what would have been a radical change in the development of the padel, we find Gilles Moretton. The President of the FFT, via tweet, made a point of explaining his position:

“Glad to meet my peers from the USTA at the ITF General Assembly. Two good news to share: I asked the ITF to focus only on tennis and to improve the Davis Cup. It was voted that the padel would be developed under the aegis of the FIP. The FFT fully intends to play its part.”

As you will have understood, for the French Tennis Federation, everyone must stay in their place, namely that the ITF must deal with tennis, and the FIP with padel, It's as simple as that !
