After 30 years on the tennis courts, Jérôme Leduc also turned to padel, a decision he does not regret. We had the opportunity to discuss with him his career and his passion for these two sports during the Head Padel Open 2023 at My Palavas Center.

“Finding pleasure and sensations”

“After 30 years of competitive tennis, I wanted to find pleasure and sensations again. Padel was exactly what I was looking for.” Indeed, padel brought a new dynamic to his sporting career, with friendly matches that replaced the intense competition of tennis.

“Doubles players will love padel!”

“In padel, I love playing doubles. I also have experience in team sports and padel allows me to rediscover that atmosphere.” Despite his main practice of singles tennis, Leduc quickly adopted and appreciated the collaborative aspect of this sport which is played by 4 people.

“Not encountering the atmosphere that is sometimes that of tennis”

“I hope I don’t encounter in padel the same atmosphere that I sometimes encountered in tennis. For the moment, everything is going very well.” To put it simply, Leduc hopes that padel will retain its friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

In conclusion, Jérôme Leduc is a perfect example of the “second youth” brought by padel to experienced athletes like him. He is convinced: “I had experience in tennis, but padel allowed me to find a second youth.” These words clearly demonstrate the appeal of this sport, which continues to attract more and more fans.
