Back to the origins of KUIKMA. Many of you ask us questions about the meaning of KUIKMA and how Decathlon came to agree on this brand.

We will explain everything to you.

KUIKMA: team fun

KUIKMA is the 100% brand padel from the French group Décathlon. It has been deployed on the padel in February 2019. And she will be celebrating her first year very soon.

But the name KUIKMA is actually a word that comes from the American Indians and means “team fun” in Aztec. In those distant times, we were already playing ball. Obviously it is neither padel or some other ball sport that we know today, but the Aztecs used the term “KUIKMA” to refer to having fun as a team in games.

KUIKMA: an internal choice

KUIKMA is also a choice made internally, by the Decathlon group. As with other brand names, Decathlon involves its employees in choosing their name. “Instead of going through a communication box to validate a name, we involve the group in this strategic choice that is the name and it is KUIKMA that has been validated ”, explains Frédéric Oudeville, head of Kuikma Padel.
