As we told you previously, it heats up between the PPA and the World Padel Tour after publication of the 2023 calendar of the circuit managed by Setpoint Events SA.

We know this, since the arrival of Premier Padel at the table of the organizers of professional tournaments padel, the relationships between the players and the World Padel Tour have clearly hardened. In question, the contract signed by the players in 2018, which binds them to the circuit until the end of this 2023 season. More particularly, it is the exclusivity clause which poses a problem, the athletes claiming for a little while to be able to participate in other tournaments without incurring penalties.

This soap opera does not seem close to being finished, and this week it is the calendar which angers the players. Several points are singled out by the PPA. You will find them detailed below.

Since the Players' Association was particularly angry at the circuit financed by Estrella Damm, it decided to appeal to sports and public institutions, including the Higher Sports Council, as explained below.

Given the importance of the facts that we are reporting, we have requested the mediation and assistance of sports and public institutions. In particular, that of the Superior Sports Council, because we understand that the interests and unilateral decisions of a private organization like the WPT, totally alien to the guiding principles of sport, cannot violate fundamental rights, in particular the obligation constitutional power of the public authorities to promote physical education and sports.

Will an institution be able to put an end to the disagreement between the PPA and the circuit? In the meantime, it is the stage organizers who must worry about this situation, the players seem ready to boycott the Open 1000, who are 18 this season…
