As we said recently, Pope Francis is a fan of padel and his racquet is going to be auctioned off.

“Sport is a game”

This weekend was held a special day for the FIP (Italian Federation of Tennis and Padel) during which the Holy Father Francis received the participants of the International Symposium of Tennis and padel in the Paul VI Hall, the former Sala Nervi.

In a room of six thousand people, including many children and young people, members, enthusiasts, sports instructors from more than thirty different countries, the pope declared that “everyone should be encouraged to participate in sport for themselves, for the excitement, pleasure and relaxation it provides. It is gratuity, the spirit of gratuity with which we must play. Competition is healthy if it's all part of a “game”.

The Pontiff, who on the occasion of this event received a racket which he took in his hands with great amusement, added that “when sport is made for other interests, it loses its beauty”.
