Last week, the center court of the World Padel Tour Vienna Padel Open stood out with a black carpet that lifted many questions. The sponsor of the tournament is at the origin of this particularity not so innovative as that, since we already see that in other disciplines.

A choice that confirms the trend present in other racket sports that have already developed the culture around the very dark ground. If it's not a revolutionary idea because it has been around for a long time, the fashion effect is there. But you still have to adapt it correctly.

We see this for example in tennis, table tennis, and squash (with white balls specially used for these black playing surfaces). The action is clearly visible for spectators and television viewers, especially since the lights of the arena or stadium support the contrast in general.

At Boss Vienna Padel Open, we can see that the balls, which remain yellow, stand out less on the screen. In addition, the racquets and the outfits of the players, which are often in dark shades, find themselves in this case absorbed by the background color.

So many elements that the world of padel must rethink to develop this new culture and process properly to provide a clearer staging of the action.
