The video refereeing system, known as VAR, in place on the World Padel Tour since the Master Final last year, has become a topic of debate. The installation of Foxtenn raised many opinions after a few tournaments where some questionable decisions were denounced by the players.

The Foxtenn technology system consists of 20 high-speed cameras and 4 nano-precision lasers in the field. 2.500 images per second are taken in order to be able to examine with the greatest possible precision any action that occurs on the ground.

This tool has proven itself for more than 15 years in tennis and is now used in more than 50 ATP and WTA tournaments. However, the Catalan company is never immune to controversy, like yesterday when Davidovich Fokina vigorously challenged a decision made by Foxtenn.

Such an event has never happened before. padel, but several players have already expressed their disagreement in the middle of a match by questioning the effectiveness of the system: Lucas Campagnolo, Franco Stupaczuk, Lucas Bergamini, Víctor Ruiz, Mike Yanguas and Gemma Triay among others.

Even Fernando Belasteguin, the most successful player of all time, quips on the attitude he intends to have alongside Mike Yanguas on the upcoming controversial VAR decisions:

VAR is a technological advancement that is still being adapted to the padel and which still has a lot of room for improvement because, so far, it has not been approved by a large number of players. A step forward that will seek to optimize its performance to dispel the doubts created at the start of the season in order to fulfill its role, that of making the sport fairer.
