Ale Galan and Juan Lebron offered a true display of power and speed during the Estrella Damm Open. Could it be padel from the future ?

It is a lesson in technique, speed and power that Juan Lebron and Ale Galan inflicted on their opponents during this resumption of the tournaments of the World Padel Tour.

If we take a few minutes to analyze their game, the thing is really simple. Wait for a slightly less effective ball from the opponents and immediately put pressure to 2 towards the net while playing very hard. To play this way, you need a lot of qualities.

First physical to keep the rhythm from start to finish, to be always well placed. Then technical qualities to strike all shots with as much precision. Also of athleticism, the size of Lebron / Galan greatly influences. Finally mental qualities to keep and apply to the letter game strategies worked on during training.

Not a single bandeja

This is the question: have Lebron and Galan made a single bandeja during this tournament? If so, we have to count them on the fingers of one hand. Most of the high balls they've had to deal with ended in impressive, winning smashes.

Ideal conditions

For these 2 stars of padel, the playing conditions were perfect. High temperatures and therefore fast balls, very responsive windows and the integration of the punto de oro to shorten the games: an ideal cocktail for this type of player. We even noticed that some matches did not reach the hour and a half of play.

This is it padel of tomorrow ?

You have to admire the work of Galan and Lebron during this tournament. They gave us a real demonstration. But is the very essence of padel would not be affected? Playing with the windows, playing bandejas, working the points, the game that we still find in the ladies? If we show these matches as an example to our students, wouldn't we be losing the base of the padel ?

So the equipment evolves, the tracks evolve and the balls evolve. Wouldn't it be better if the hardware moved to a slower game?

What do you think ?
