A historic event

Premier Padel will organize an event in Egypt for the first time. The fastest growing sport in the world comes to New Guiza with a P1 tournament. The competition will also be the first event Premier Padel to be held in Africa, making it a historic milestone for the growth of the padel.

The NEWGIZA Premier Padel P1 will be held October 24-30, 2022 through a multi-year agreement with NEWGIZA Sports Club CEO Khaled El-Shawarby, in partnership with CA Sports Marketing and in conjunction with the Egyptian Federation of padel. Premier Padel is the official world tour of padel, governed by the International Federation of padel (FIP) and supported by the Professional Padel Association (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).

The NEWGIZA Premier Padel P1 will take place at NEWGIZA Sports Club. The qualifying rounds will be played on October 22 and 23, and the final draw will take place at the end of these.

The tournament becomes the next P1 event on the calendar Premier Padel, after the events organized in August in Madrid and Mendoza. The prize money for the tournament will be €250, as with other P000 tournaments, and 1 pairs will participate in the main draw from October 48.

Premier Padel is the only circuit that offers official ranking points, and winners of P1 tournaments will earn 1 points.

The growth of padel in Egypt

According to Ziad Hammoud, board member of Premier Padel, “This is an incredibly exciting and special time for the padel, not only in Egypt, but for the entire African continent. According to Khaled El-Shawarby, CEO of NEWGIZA Sports Club (NGSC): “NGSC piloted and drove the expansion of the padel in Egypt since 2017, when we had less than 10 courts. Today, with more than 350 courts across Egypt, and thanks to the support of the Egyptian Federation of padel, the NGSC is partnering with CA Sports Marketing to set a new milestone in the region by bringing the P1 to a magical location overlooking the magnificent Pyramids of Giza, thus positioning Egypt in the world calendar of the padel professional."
