Miguel and Nuno Deus are inseparable. The two Portuguese internationals will be great opponents for France in Dubai. Padel Magazine interviews them since the exhibition of theAPT Padel Tour in Saint Tropez.

Tsonga has a nice hand

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: You have just seen Jo-Wilfried Tsonga play at the padel. As former professional tennis players, how did Jo's level seem to you?

Nuno Deus:“He plays very well, he has a very good hand. It is a great joy for us to see these tennis stars playing padel. This helps spread our sport. Jo has a big shot, he lost balls they went so far. He still had a little trouble with the windows, but that's normal.

Miguel Deus:“Without the windows, I think it's a genius. The amount of balls he played on the half volley, or the quality of his lobs when the ball didn't hit the glass…”

A great season

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: We'll talk about the rest of the APT season. Three tournaments in Mexico, and potentially a 4th which is the Master Final, but it may be difficult.

Miguel Deus:“To go to the Master Final, we should win all the tournaments! It's almost impossible, but it wasn't a goal for us this season, it was a dream. We started the season with 35 in the ranking, and we are now 21. I think we have largely achieved our goal for this season. Maybe it will be for next season!”

“For Mexico, we're not sure about going to Saltilla. First we have the World Cup, because last week we qualified. It is a great pride for us.”

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: What is the plan for next season?

Nuno deus :“Obviously we continue together, we continue on the APT Padel Tower, and we will continue to fight. That's what we want: to play better and better. We still have a lot to give.”

Goal 4th place

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: How do you approach the World Championships padel with the Portuguese selection?

Miguel Deus:“It was a great experience in Derby [Editor's note: during qualifying]. We are all friends. The atmosphere is superb in the group. It was very hard against Sweden, and for me it's a team that should play this World Cup. We have been superior. In Dubai, we will want to fight for at least 4th place. I think it's a fair goal for us. We will fight against France, Italy and Paraguay.”

Rivalry with France

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Brazil is too hard to beat?

Nuno Deus:“Yes, but I think we can fight them. We will try to beat them, it's a dream. Anything can happen.”

Miguel Deus:“It would be great to face France in the quarter-finals. A match under high tension!"
