In interview given to our Argentinian colleagues from Olé, Lucho Capra returned to this complicated season, to the separation with Maxi Sanchez, to the new pair he formed with Agustín Gutiérrez and to his absence from the World Cup.

Maxi's decision

“There have been a lot of changes: today the pairs have a limited lifespan and it is complicated that cases like Tello-Chingotto or even Galán-Lebrón are repeated.”

“All the changes made us lose eighth place in the ranking and Maxi told me of his desire to change air two or three days before the Master Final. Even though I had in mind to continue, he took this decision and we separated. (…) We should have talked about it earlier to have more time to look for a new partner.”

A long season that is ending, another that is coming

“I wanted the year to end: the last tournaments plus the trips were very tiring. I still lived it well, but it was heavy to be so long away from home, especially when the competitions were linked and we remained three or four weeks without returning.

“It's the unknown (for next season). It's complicated that the World Padel Tour et Premier Padel agree to play fewer tournaments, the situation is tense. My opinion is that the only beneficiary must be sport, beyond the fact that each circuit fights for its interests.

His new pair with Agustín Gutiérrez

“I wanted a young player, with whom I could find motivation and win good games to come back to the eighth. He showed interest from the start.”

"We've played together on a few Challengers before and we know we can do it right."

“We will meet two days a week in Valladolid to work with Gustavo Pratto. For my part, I will continue in Madrid with Javier Pozanco and Agustín will continue in Alicante with Claudio Gilardoni.”

Disappointed not to have been selected with Argentina for Dubai

“I would be lying if I said I didn't want to go. It's a dream to play for our team and I knew there was this possibility since at the base there was a lack of a player on the right, but in the end they decided to take Maxi. It was between the two of us for eighth place.

“I told the coaches what I thought of all this, I made them understand that I did not agree with this choice but always with respect. Respecting decisions is the most important thing.”

"Obviously I was sad not to be able to play the World Cup: it's a dream and I only played one, so I'll have to keep training, and we'll see if I get my luck on the next one.”
