The first semi-final of this Mendoza P1 opposed Juan Lebron / Alejandro Galan to Agustin Tapia / Arturo Coello. We expected a meeting at the top between these two pairs and despite a relatively balanced first set, it was a one-sided match that we were able to attend. The Argentinian and the Spaniard achieved a perfect score and once again consolidate their status as big favorites.

A fiery classic

Pushed by the public who came in droves to support the child of the country, Agus and Arturo push to the net to try to take the advantage. However, it is not easy, because in front of them, it is Juan Lebron and Ale Galan who have been in very good shape since the start of the competition and who counter their attacks. The two pairs go blow for blow. The Hispano-Argentinian pair get break points, but the two Iberian don't let go and grab one more game (4/3). The latter commit a few unforced errors and it is on an overpowered smash that the “Mozart of Catamarca” offers his team a break (5/3).

As for the Spaniards, Alejandro Galan achieves an exceptional end game and allows his partner not to admit defeat. Indeed, the Madrilenian saves a set point and even manages to win this ninth game, giving them one more chance to reset the counters to zero (5/4). Upon returning from the bench, the “King Arthur” took the lead. He undermines the defense of his opponents. The four players offer a great padel, but it was the Tapia / Coello pair that won the first round.

“Stratospheric”

Full of confidence following their very good first set, Agustin and Arturo were intractable during the first games of this second round. They leave no chance to their rivals, thus making them doubt and putting them at psychological risk. But el “Wolf” and his teammate continued to fight. This is not enough, because their opponents fly over this second round. The game quickly turned into a fight with a white game offering a 4/0 to the Hispano-Argentinian pair. Galan is very frustrated and on the verge of cracking up. Despite the encouragement of his partner, the native of Madrid does not manage to get back into the game.

On a small cloud, Coello and Tapia unroll and take off more and more, putting a big foot in the final (5/1). The Spaniards saved two match points, thus offering themselves a mini reprieve and a hope of returning to the game (5/2). Displaying a technically flawless game despite the country's winter conditions, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia overthrew the former number 1s and won their ticket for a new final

Final score: 6/4 - 6/2

Place in the second semi-final which will oppose Alex Ruiz/Juan Tello à Martin Di Nenno / Franco Stupaczuk. The winners of this match will join the numbers 1 for the grand final which will be played this Sunday.
