The date could have been changed

First, the International Federation of padel had validated Qatar as the site that would host the next world championships padel from October 31 to November 5, 2022. Indeed, after the success of the World Cup in 2021, the FIP had once again opted for Doha and its unique infrastructures.

A choice sometimes openly criticized by some players and fans of padel, especially since Spain offered Valencia to host these World Cups…

But about a week ago, the situation changed. The Qatari Federation asked the FIP to change the date of the Worlds, “due to a case of force majeure”. Obviously, Qatar cannot organize the event on the scheduled dates. For the moment we have no more details on this subject, but it seems that the reason is linked to the World Cup, which begins in Qatar at the end of November.

Two options were therefore available to the FIP: change dates or change site. And finally, the second was chosen. Fortunately, one would be tempted to say, because otherwise, it would have completely upset the end-of-season calendar for the entire planet. padel.

United Arab Emirates: a luxurious substitute!

As a replacement for Qatar, the FIP has therefore succeeded in finding a site offering optimal conditions: Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

The XVIth edition of the world tournament of padel will certainly be a big party, especially since Dubai is also a regular at major events.
