FFT has realised a survey on padel to study his awareness level, practice of padel et frequency.

Conclusion: very promising figures despite a few points to work on. The padel continues its development.

Notoriety of padel : 19% know

This is a very satisfactory figure. The Opinion Way study is clear: in February 2020, nearly a fifth of the population would experience the padel. One more proof that the padel is a sport that is taking up space in public space.

The work of the FFT, in particular through its policy of networking padel throughout the territory, the media echo more and more present on the theme of padel, the personalities who seize the padel allow this sport to have a very important development in France as in Europe.

survey frequency notoriety padel FFTThe poll specifies its figure of 19%:

  • Under 35: 24%
  • 35-49 years: 26%
  • 65 years and over: 11%
  • CSP A: 27%
  • South West: 28%
  • City of + 100K inhabitants: 23%
  • At least one child: 29%

Surprisingly, those 65 and over do not know the sport while the padel is considered a sport for all. Moreover in Spain, a good part of the population who play padel is over 65 years old.

Unsurprisingly, respondents from the southwest seem more skilled in the padel with a rate that exceeds a quarter. More than 1/4 of the people of the Southwest know the padel. It must be said that Occitania and New Aquitaine in particular have carried the padel over the last 20 years.

Not to mention the major events that have taken place since the 2000s with the world padel in 2000, the French Open of padel Place du Capitole, and more recently, the French championships of padel... and the structures of padel which are found everywhere in the south of France.

Practice of padel : 23% orhaven't already practiced

Less than one in four connoisseurs have already practiced this sport, mainly 4-25 year olds, CSP A, with at least one child.

handy padel FFT survey

Here are the details :

  • 25-34 years: 46%
  • 50 years and over: 8%
  • CSP A: 37%
  • Inactive: 14%
  • City of + 100K inhabitants: 32%
  • At least one child: 36%

Presque 50% of 25-34 year olds who know the padel have already played. This is the number to keep in this statistic. Even if we obviously would have liked the over 50s to test themselves padel more often.

Frequency of padel

Almost 3 in 10 connoisseurs have practiced padel over 12 months ago and half of connoisseurs have done so in the past 12 months.practical frequency of padel19% of those who practice padel play at least once a week, and 17% play multiple times a month. So we have more 1/3 of the players who are regular players.

55% of the 23% who practice padel played at padel at least once in the past 12 months.

Le padel is an addicting sport. However, we observe that many who have played padel don't always come back. It's hard to know why this delta is so important. Please feel free to comment on this post and allow us to have your opinion.
