Olivier Moine, one of the co-directors of La Pala, a future center for padel scheduled for late 2023, gave an interview to Padel Magazine. In this interview, he talks about the origins of this audacious and ambitious project that he undertook with four other associates.

An adventure for 5

“There are five of us on this adventure, all passionate about and playing padel. There is Pascal Receveur, a business manager from La Rochelle, Rodolphe Deleusière, also from La Rochelle and business manager, Fabrice Jardino, a restaurateur from La Rochelle, Frédéric Maucourt, former health executive and TFP graduate padel, co-director of the center, and myself, Olivier Moine, former tennis teacher, padel and also co-director of the center.

I managed to convince all these people to join me in the adventure of La Pala (the name of the center, referring to snowshoes in Spain and also to a frying pan in Italy, since we plan to open a bistro restaurant Italian). Our goal is to create a sporty and friendly place to live around our common passion.

This is an investment of 4 million euros.

Le padel is developing well in Angers and we are active in the padel since arriving in 2017 with Fred. The idea of evolving in our own structure made us dream, and the three Rochelais were convinced by our vision. Today, we are all moving forward together to offer a center of excellence.”

An ambitious project coming to fruition

“Since the beginning of 2021, we have been engaged in the process of building our center, and it has been a long and laborious journey. However, we never gave up and we are finally approaching the finish line!

Our center is located in the Decathlon Village of Les Ponts-de-Cé, just 7 minutes from downtown Angers. It will offer eight pitches of padel, including six indoors and two outdoors, fitted with latest-generation carpeting. The indoor courts will have a ceiling height of 10 meters, with the possibility of exits, and two of them will be connected.

This is an ambitious project for a center of padel where everyone, I mean everyone, can practice this sport. We plan to organize leisure activities, as well as tournaments ranging from level P25 to P1000, or even more if possible.

In addition to team matches, we will offer teaching programs for all ages and levels, whether annual, quarterly or as one-off courses led by professional teachers.”

Padel but not only

“In addition to our facilities of padel, we plan to create a partner club that will offer team building moments, master classes, seminars, and much more. We will also have three golf simulators, allowing everyone to practice in safety and comfort. Whether you are a novice, amateur or professional, you will find it interesting to play golf with us!

Animations, teaching programs and tournaments will also be planned. But the heart of the project lies in our Italian bistro, where you can taste traditional dishes such as pizzas, pastas, salads and risottos prepared with local or Italian products by a passionate team that aims to offer quality and conviviality.

Upstairs we will have rooms for rent where an osteopath will set up. We are also looking for physiotherapists, pilates and yoga teachers to create a space of well-being. In addition, we are looking for a teacher of padel able to manage our school/academy, as well as a pizza chef for our kitchen.

The opening of La Pala is scheduled for the end of 2023 and we are waiting for you!”
