France has been the center of the padel world in the 21st century with its 2000 World Padel Championships ! It was in Toulouse, Place du Capitole.

A first in France!

France had indeed welcomed the first padel world championship in its history. It was also a big first for this sport.

Because until then, the padel world championships were taking place either in Spain or in Argentina.

The first padel world championships organized by the International Padel Federation Padel date from 1992.

The padel worlds in France were the 5th held under the FIP era. And this major international event is largely due to the team of the French Federation of Padel of the time led by Claude Baigts.

Grandstands, 2 padel courts and a village were built on one of the most beautiful squares in the world. A success that some professional players who still play still remember.

Argentina had beaten Spain 3/0 for men while in women, it was the Spanish who had beaten Argentina.

France has shown the way

France will have shown the world of padel that other nations could claim to host the padel world championships outside of Spain and Argentina, the two strong nations in our sport.

2 years later, it's the Mexico who will welcome him in Mexico before making a single successive double: in 2010 and 2012.

Canada also succeeded in hosting the padel world championships in 2008.

More recently, the French Tennis Federation, which has represented padel since 2014, has left the door open to host a future French World Championship in France. Although we are not there yet, the French infrastructure and its influence within the FIP could allow us to host a World Championship again.
