The favorites were there during the quarter-finals of the P2 in Puerto Cabello yesterday. Results which will give rise to spectacular semi-finals in Venezuela.

For their first competition together, Ale Galan et Fede Chingotto join the last four after a victory over the experienced Paquito Navarro et sanyo gutierrez : 6 / 2 - 7 / 5. The Spanish-Argentinian Association, also called “Chingalan“, seems to work wonderfully thanks to the intensity shown by the two players on the pitch.

Chingotto and Galan will once again be able to test themselves against the elite of padel world, since they will face Franco Stupaczuk et Martin Di Nenno in the semi-final on the night of Saturday to Sunday. THE "super kids” put an end to the journey of “Minipibes” from qualifications, Tino Libaak et Leo Augsburg : 7/5-6/0.

A first for Nieto/Sanz

In the other part of the table, Coki Nieto et Jon sanz almost fell into the trap set by Arnau Ayats et Fran Guerrero. Trailing a set to nothing, the Spaniards made a comeback under the sign of resilience in the second set, passing in front of the scoreboard at the best of times. Nieto/Sanz reach their first semi-final in 2024 by concluding with authority in the last act after two hours of play: 6/7 – 7/5 – 6/1.

Arturo Coello et Agustin Tapia are also among the four contenders for the title. The world number ones have signed a fifteenth consecutive victory, at the expense of Rubio/Sanchez: 7/5 – 6/3. Tapia/Coello will cross swords with Nieto/Sanz today.

Riera/Araujo continue

Among the women, the headliners also responded. The only surprise of the day came from the clash between Riera / Araujo et Ortega/Virseda. Acapulco P1 finalists dominated the Spaniards in two sets and 1h36 of play. The number three seeded players went out in the quarter-finals mainly because of the five breaks conceded in this part.

Riera and Araujo will have their work cut out for them in seeking a second consecutive final, as they will face table favorites, Delfina Brea et Bea Gonzalez. The second team in the world ranking did not encounter any problems in dismissing Ruiz Soto/Rufo (6 / 4 - 6 / 3) who had benefited from the Castello/Jensen package.

Triay and Salazar meet again

In the lower part of the table, Alejandra Salazar et Gemma Triay will once again compete for a place in the final. Salazar and Tamara Icardo stifled Sainz/Llaguno (6/2 – 6/2) in more than 1 hour 40 minutes of fighting at nightfall. At the same time, Triay and Claudia fernandez took advantage of the abandonment of the young Canovas/Velasco: 6/3 – 3/0. A remake of the half of the Qatar Major where Triay and Fernandez won in two sets.
