We were guaranteed to see at least one Frenchwoman in the second round of P2 of Puerto Cabello, we will have two. Without any real surprise, Alix Collombon easily qualified when she entered the running, then Carla Touly also won her ticket at the expense of Élodie Invernon.

Collombon/Bidahorria in steamroller mode

In search of confidence and automatisms with his partner Julieta Bidahorria, Alix Collombon has largely reassured himself in Venezuela. The Franco-Argentinian pair made short work of the Mexicans Ana Maria Cabrejas and Camila Ramme: 6/0 – 6/0 in one hour of play.

The French number one took full advantage of this favorable draw against qualifiers and was imperial in the Dracu Rider Stadium, not having to save a single break point and only conceding nine points over the entire game. Collombon and Bidahorria are now waiting to know who will be facing them in the next match, either the Nogueira/Caldera pair or Sainz/Llaguno, seeded seven.

Touly wins the duel

At the same time on the BDV Grand Stand, Carla Touly and the Portuguese Magdarida Fernandes soundly beat Elodie Invernon and Bruna Albuquerque 6/1 – 6/0 in 1h20 of match. The first round was tight and the first two breaks made by Touly and Fernandes were decided by little. However, once the first set was lost, Invernon and Albuquerque sank under the Venezuelan sun.

The best ranked of the two Tricolores therefore invites itself to the second round of this P2 where it could face Aranzazu Osoro and Carmen Goenaga who must before that dismiss Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco.
