Obviously, this final in Doha promised a great spectacle. Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez (TS1) met the very surprising pair Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (TS3).

A particularly indecisive final in the first, punctuated by numerous break points and a very good level from the players on the track. Then, the demonstration of the world numbers 1 in the second round, leaving Fernandez/Triay far last.

In the end, Paula and Ariana's experience won out on the track. They inflict a 6 / 3 6 / 1 to Claudia Fernandez and Gemma Triay. They therefore become the most successful pair on the Premier Padel, with 3 titles, ahead of Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez. And above all, they are the first players to win the Qatar Major!

A very hooked first set

Paula and Ariana started this meeting very seriously. The numbers 1 offered a very diligent game, allowing them to quickly lead 2-0 in this match.

However, not impressed, Gemma and Claudia came back to score the next game, taking advantage of some mistakes from their opponents. Every game was tight and neither team seemed to want to gain the upper hand. The game was undeniably moving towards Ariana Sanchez… and Claudia Fernandez.

According to the figures of Padelmarket, Ariana Sanchez played 423 balls… against 314 for Paula Josemaria.

In total, there will have been 9 breaks in this first round, proof that the match was close. The further break will ultimately be in favor of the world number 1s. Although they had to defend a break point at 5-3, they will have been able to count on their particularly incisive volleys.

In the end, this makes 6/3 on the scoreboard after just under an hour of play.

The demonstration of numbers 1

In the second set, Paula and Ariana seemed to have found the right combination to defeat their opponents. As in the first set, they broke up early in this round and took another step towards the title, which was increasingly reaching out to them.

On the other side, the mistakes kept coming a little. Claudia Fernandez, the metronome, was perhaps a little caught up in her emotions. First final, in Major, with the possibility of becoming the youngest player in history to win a title on the professional circuit, obviously, it could be scary. Fortunately, she could count on Gemma Triay, with an impeccable attitude on the field.

Except that on the court, in front, it was Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez. The latter proved, once again on the track, that they were not at the top of the rankings for nothing. Claudia Fernandez and Gemma Triay paid the price since they lost 6/1 the second set.

Second consecutive victory for Ari and Paula who won the very first women's Qatar Major! The players will now be able to enjoy a week of rest with the Premier Padel Puerto Cabello P2.

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
