This weekend, took place in Le Mans, at the Urban clubPadel, first international tournament padel-armchair. A look back at the competition which ended with the victory of Spaniards Agea and Bernal against their compatriots Cambronero and Ramperez. A 6/2 6/3 which does not reflect the intensity of this meeting which will have been explosive until the end!

The spectators present were impressed by the level of all these players, in particular that of the Spaniards who still maintain a lead over their counterparts from other countries.

A very important step in the history of padel-armchair

Present in the quarter-finals, where they lost to the Spaniards Bergs and Navarro, the tricolors Sébastien Husser and Nicolas Vanleberghe can be proud of their career. Asked after the tournament, the French were very happy that such an event could take place in France.

Sebastien Husser: This international tournament, the first in the world, masterfully organized in France by Albane, will remain a very special competition for me. This is a very, very important step in the history of the padel- French armchair but also worldwide.
And to think that at the beginning of 2022 no official competition had been organized in France! The general level of play and in particular that of the Spaniards was very impressive. It is a real pride to have been able to participate. To do again and again! Long live the padel !

Nicolas Vanleberghe: "Both historical and magical! Thank you Albane for having had this great idea and congratulations for the organization. Of course, we are still behind the Spaniards, but the motivation is there and we really got off to a good start. How can you not love this sport…it's so fun! We hope to come back next year with why not representatives from other nations. It now remains for the various federations of padel to give us a little help!"

A before and an after

Iñaki Ramperez, unfortunate finalist, is also full of praise for the organization of the tournament: “This tournament was amazing. I emphasize the organization in the first place: everything was done to make the players feel comfortable at all times.

The Urban ClubPadel also impressed us. It is a first class centre, in all aspects: accessibility, design, lighting, services.

Of course, I thank all the actors present. As a reference country for the padel in wheelchairs, we were very curious to know the level of other countries. We were very surprised to see how the French players who were in Spain in the spring have evolved in so few months. The real surprise of the tournament comes for me from the Netherlands, which we did not expect at this level. The Belgians too, whom we did not know, also surprised us.

The atmosphere between all the players from the four countries was great. And also all the public who supported all the players from day one, with a lot of passion and incredible respect.

It is a real pride to have participated in the first international tournament, to witness what will be the future of the padel in a wheelchair. All the Spanish players feel very proud to have been able to take part in this tournament.

I would also like to highlight the media coverage, mainly that of Padel Magazine, because it is very important to give visibility to this sport which, in a few years, will, I think, be an international benchmark, both in terms of the number of players and tournaments.

I hope that sponsors and companies will continue to support all these initiatives. Behind every player there are many hours of work and training, many trips, and above all a lot of passion and effort to keep improving day after day.

I thank Kuikma for his involvement with us (Marcos Cambronero and me) as brand ambassadors, but above all I would like to highlight his predisposition to support the padel in a wheelchair.

It is an experience that marks a before and after in the history of padel in a wheelchair. I can't wait to participate in the next edition!
