The Director of Human Padel Open and captain of the French women's team, Robin Haziza, spoke at the microphone of Padel Magazine during this Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major. The opportunity to make an initial assessment of the 1st edition of the Human Padel Open and above all to discuss the next deadlines that await the French women's team.

Human Padel Open: “It was completely crazy!”

Padel Magazine : We were lucky to see at the Human padel Open an incredible tournament a few weeks ago. Robin are you alive?

Robin: “I'm alive, I'm at Roland, everything is fine (laughs). We recovered a bit after a magnificent tournament, as you said, a great success both for lovers of padel and for the tournament organizer that I am and the teams that I work with. And then we continue with another equally magnificent here at Roland. The planet padel is doing well !"

Between 10.000 and 12.000 people at Human Padel Open

Padel Magazine : We saw that the public had responded present. How do you see this?

Robin : ” It was completely crazy! We can emphasize that this is the first time in France that we had a tournament with ticketing: that is to say paying entries. Indeed the qualifications overflowed to the 4Padel, obviously with our French players who all played well. The community of 4Padel and all of Toulouse were present during qualifying.

To our great surprise, the Palais des Sports from Wednesday with I remember this day which ended very late with more than 1500 people present. And then it went on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: with in particular Saturday and Sunday “sold-out” and more than 3000 people in the stands. The whole represents more than 10.000 people who passed in the week between the Palais des Sports and the qualifiers and the part of the women's table at 4Padel. We are not far from the 10-12 people who came to see the matches in Toulouse. “

Padel Magazine : Precisely, after this success met for the first edition one can wonder: what is the next step?

Robin : “We come out of one edition and project ourselves onto the second. Still in Toulouse we hope. To be honest with you, we are going to take stock with the communities, with the partners; it still requires a follow-up of the communities, the town hall of Toulouse, the Region, the Department, our partners also who followed us, the private partners, Human Immobilier and others who were also delighted by all the activations . The town hall is obviously very happy with the result, with the people there were, with the echoes in the city: we talked padel for more than a week in Toulouse.

The focus is on 2023 and we will try to reproduce a season 2 and make it even a little prettier than what it was this year.

Padel Magazine : Have all these partners been involved with the competition over several years?

Robin : ” We left for a first edition on the famous 1 + 1: that is to say that both the communities and the partners took the bet with us to make a first edition to bring the best players of the world in France and in Toulouse, the success being there, I am quite positive about the fact that all our partners and the communities are following us for a second year. And then the idea is also to look for other partners, to look for something new and to activate other levers so that it is still a great success and that there are even more everyone in the stands next year!”

A course bringing together the French women's and men's team…in Barcelona?

Padel Magazine : Now let's talk about one of your other hats. What is the program of captain France Dames, knowing that the next big deadline is in November?

Robin : “It will go very quickly but there is a calendar of tournaments which is finally rather well done in France, there are a lot of P1000 which are played in July. I exchanged very regularly with all the girls, I followed all the results. There is a new big deadline in September with the P2000 des Pyramides and behind it there will be the French championship and this training course that we are organizing with the FFT and Pablo Ayma (captain of the French men's team) in stride at the month of October. A priori the camp should take place in Barcelona, but I don't want to spill the beans yet because it's not quite official yet. But the idea is to bring together the best men and women players, over a reduced period of 4-5 days during a training camp, I think that's important for everyone.

I follow them all. All the girls are very motivated, whether it's Alix and Léa who play on the World Padel Tour and all our players who compete on the P1000, on the APT circuit, on the FIP circuit… Roland-Garros this year (for the Ladies) will not take place, but we can hope that it will be for next year or in not too long. I think they all want to fight it out like Benjamin did yesterday on the center court or even on the annexes of Roland-Garros.

Again I repeat, the planet padel is doing well, the padel French too and then we will hope to achieve very good results at the world championships with the girls and with the men to carry this momentum a little more. “

“A Dream Team is only called Dream Team when it wins”

Padel Magazine : World Championships in which we hope for a small medal? With in particular a reinforcement of weight the return of Laura Clergue, we were talking about a “Dream Team” that we had been hoping for for a little while. Certainly the competition will be fierce, but we will have a stronger French team too.

Robin : “Laura is back, Jessica is back in business too, things are going quite well with Lucile… We have a Mélissa and an Amélie who shine, who play very well and who have had great results too.

After a Dream Team is only called Dream Team when it wins. We can imagine that on paper this team is beautiful, now it's the result that makes this team be considered a Dream Team or not. What we know is that the Italians are very strong, we know that the Spaniards and the Argentines are above, we know that the Portuguese will be present this year (they still have two players who are part of the top 20 -25 worldwide).

There is competition at all levels, within all nations but also in France, but this is only positive for the padel Feminine French. It's up to me to set up/create this best possible team and to have the best possible result, you can count on me to do the best.”

Passionate about football, I discovered the padel in 2019. Since then, it's been crazy love with this sport to the point of abandoning my favorite sport.
