From tennis to padel...

this is an idea that Antoine Couvercelle quickly shared with his brother Louis about 4 years ago, during a family vacation in Marbella, Spain, where, having left to play tennis on magnificent clay courts, the family quickly found themselves on the courts of padel that we then discovered.

A family of children of the ball, since Antoine and Louis are the sons of Jean Couvercelle, founder of Tennis magazine which he directed during 40 years, and where Antoine became one of the most recognized photographers of the planet tennis. In Marbella, everyone, big and small, men and women immediately adopted this sport and the pleasure of meeting each other every day was quickly shared by everyone. "And if one day we had our own club in France?"It was not a joke in Antoine's mouth, but an idea that made its way quite quickly.

The ideal site: "The Décathlon village of Mérignac"

But it took time to choose the region, depending on the clubs that already existed.

“The Bordeaux region met our wishes very well, and it turns out that if there were already courts here and there, no club totally dedicated to the padel did not exist".

In addition, the direction of the Décathlon village of Mérignac, where many activities were already developed (golf, indoor football, etc.) wanted to propose others. The family project was very favorably received. The agreement was quickly found.

The club would be built as part of this village, around one of the most important Decathlon stores in France, where physical activity sites and other restaurants also attract thousands of people every day.

"It is ideal to highlight the padel, and this club, called Big Padel de Bordeaux Mérignac, 7 panoramic courts, five covered (of which a short of simple) et two exteriors surrounded by greenery. Courts equipped with a latest generation coating (the one found on the world padel tour, and with a height of 9 meters under the ceiling).

A 100% club Padel

Antoine, president of Big Padel, and Louis, deputy director, are at the helm, to welcome fans of padel like newcomers, who can benefit from courses delivered by two qualified FFT teachers. A loft-style club house is the ideal setting, with its terrace, to extend the pleasure of sharing these moments of rivalry, but above all of conviviality.

Already a tournament of  Padel Infinity tour is organized there on September 8 and 9, and the last stage of the National Padel Cup before the finals will take place on these courts on October 7 and 8. A rising-falling is also organized every week. In addition, days or evenings possibly privatized of animation for companies, very numerous in Mérignac, are already programmed.

The official inauguration will take place at the end of September, notably with champions of padel equipped by Head, partner of Big Padel.
