After the performance of Fernando Belasteguin and Sanyo Gutiérrez in the final of the Dubai Worlds, one wonders if it is possible that the two men will decide to play together again in 2023.

Replacing Coello and Tapia, no small feat!

Fernando Belasteguin and Sanyo Gutiérrez will each lose their teammate next season. Indeed, everyone now knows that Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia have chosen to join forces. The two legends of padel world, who had shared the track in 2021, will they want to go back for a ride?

Are we going to see Bela and Sanyo side by side

It seemed very unlikely before last Saturday. Indeed, Bela, who has always been more comfortable with a left-hander at his side, had chose to leave Sanyo a year and a half ago while the two men had won three tournaments together. The Argentinian preferred to bet on the steel-armed left-hander Arturo Coello. A choice that ultimately benefited everyone, the Belasteguin/Coello and Tapia/Gutiérrez duos having in turn experienced excellent results. These two pairs are also currently in the Top 3 of the WPT, behind the inevitable Lebron and Galan…

Very accomplices in Dubai

But since the final of the Emirati World Cup, the Bela / Sanyo 2.0 rumor has swelled. Indeed, the two men were very solid on the track in a match with enormous stakes, and this after more than a year without sharing the track. These two legends of padel World Cup seemed very close during the celebration of the Albiceleste victory and shared immense emotion. A time announced alongside those they defeated in the final, Alex Ruiz for Bela, and Momo Gonzalez for Sanyo, they could finally take everyone from behind and reform the 100% Argentine pair.

Indeed, the more time passes, the more it is difficult to see Ruiz and Gonzalez separate. Both men live in Malaga, their hometown, where they can train together all year round. They had an interesting season, asserting themselves among the eight best pairs in the world. If Momo and Alex decide to continue their joint project, what are the remaining choices for the two world champions?

Many upheavals to come?

As we know, Belasteguin is more comfortable with a left-hander. Among the best options (apart from Coello obviously), we think of Lucho Capra, Pablo Lima, or Jon Sanz. Capra and Sanz, certainly play very well, but still seem a little below the Argentinian. If we can quite easily imagine a Di Nenno / Stupaczuk pair for next season, we think that Lima could very well be available to put the cover back with Bela. But will these two players who had met a difficult end really want to join forces again?

For Sanyo, there aren't heaps of options either. Very good young players on the left are present on the circuit, such as Coki Nieto, Alex Arroyo or Javi Leal, but they do not seem to have yet reached sufficient status to evolve with “El Mago”. Juan Tello could be a very good option but he may have left for a long-term project with Paquito Navarro.

Under these conditions, we say to ourselves that the most likely would certainly be a return of this pair between two of the greatest legends of this sport! Do you agree with us? We are waiting for your opinions!

While waiting to find out more, don't miss Sanyo's exclusive interview in Dubai!
