It's an amusing scene to say the least that we were given the new number 1 WPT, Agustin Tapia, during his semi-final at the Mexico Open.

Indeed, the “Mozart of Catamarca” seemed more than motivated to win this tournament. During his match against Eduardo Alonso and Alex Arroyo this Saturday, he spoke to his partner of his thirst for victories: “I want to win this competition!” No sooner said than done, the Spanish-Argentinian pair dominated the match and won in just two sets, 6/2 – 6/4 against the two Spaniards.

During the famous post-match interview, Agustin Tapia spoke about his victory and it seems that the number 1 in the WPT rankings slightly forgot that he still had one match to play to become champion in Mexico. Already focused on the Master Final, it was the circuit journalist who reminded him that he still had one last match to compete.

Agustin Tapia: “There is still more to do, we have the Master Final and we will do everything to win it.”

The journalist: “But there is still one match left this Sunday.”

Agustin Tapia: “Ah yes, it’s true, there’s still tomorrow’s final.”

Amused by the situation, the three protagonists ended this exchange laughing out loud.
