Fairly new final for men for the WPT Open 500 in Reus. With the absence of the best WPT players, it was an opportunity to shine but also to assert themselves for the new pairs on the circuit. For their first tournament together, Yanguas and Gonzalez lived up to expectations.

A tough battle

Pair Opposites Diestro/Fernández, Momo González and Mike Yanguas have respected their rank in this final. In the first set, the TS1 shines and dictates the game. Yanguas and Momo manage to break at 4/2 to take advantage and end up winning the first run 6/3.

In the second round, Diestro and Pincho fail to worry Yanguas and Gonzalez. Once again TS1 managed to break on their first chance and quickly took the lead in the second act. And yet despite two title opportunities, El Pincho and Diestro manage to find resources to come back and push the TS1 to the tiebreak. Momo Gonzalez impressed again with his extraordinary recoveries. In a fierce battle, Yanguas and Momo end up imposing themselves 1h40 6/3 7/6 and offer themselves a first title together.

For this first tournament together, Yanguas and Gonzalez have proven that their partnership is already working. The two men know each other well, longtime friends, they have already shared training sessions together. Their collaboration is no accident. The magic, the extraordinary recoveries or their iron defense impressed during this stage of the WPT. The two players only lost one set, against the Gil/Moyano pair. More than a title, it's a message sent, they are ready to face the best pairs on the circuit. It now remains to be proven.
