It took 2h31 for the “Triazar” pair to lift the trophy of this Paraguay Open by winning 7/6 7/6. There is no shortage of superlatives to describe this final as the two pairs gave us a high-flying fight.
A big battle
Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez never let go with four match points saved.
A first set where Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar led 5/2 but it was without counting on the pugnacity of their opponents who picked up to afford a tie-break finally lost.
A stratospheric tie-break
The second set is very tight and the two pairs go blow for blow. The first world pair, which has a break lead, has two match points at 6/5 40/30 but loses them. Behind, they are unbreaking and must play a new decisive game.
This tie-break is incredibly intense: trailing 5/2, Josemaria/Sanchez recover at 5/5 and save a first match point at 6/5. The game continues, both pairs make no mistakes. New match point for Salazar / Triay at 9/8, still lost! Finally, they will save two set points and manage to win 11/9 in this legendary tie-break.
