During his visit to Paris, the World Padel Tour took the opportunity to interview the French player pointing in place of Nº1 in the national ranking, 26th in the WPT ranking, Alix Collombon. A player that we find this year more present than ever in the final table of major tournaments.

At the foot of the Eiffel Tower, we summarize what Alix answered to the questions of World Padel Tour in the video that you will find at the bottom of the post.

  • what does it mean for you to be the best player in your country?

Everything is based on work. I have devoted myself fully to padel, 2 years in Spain with trainer Juan Alday. To be in the place of Nº1 is an honor.

  • How would you sum up one of your days padel ?

A “normal day” would be summed up by 3 hours of work. 1h30 of physics and 1h30 of padel. Depending on the period there will be more physical, as in the pre-season, or more padel during tournaments.

  • A particular diet?

I pay attention to what I eat because as a professional player, dietetics is part of the preparation. But I do not have a strict diet, I manage myself.

  • How do you see it padel in France ?

I see it in good shape although there is still a lot of work to do and we are not yet at the level of what is done in Spain. But we are working on the subject and hope that in recent years we have grown to be at the level of international competitions, with great infrastructure and more high level players. But we are on the right track.

  • What do you think of the idea of an Open or a Master in France?

It would be great but things have to be done in the right order. Last year there was only one men's Challenger, this year this Challenger was male and female. Let's wish that in a few years we can receive an Open and in the best case a Master. But although it would be nice to attract more people, you have to do things in order.

  • Why did you switch from tennis to padel ?

It is a very complicated, individual sport with a lot of pressure. I decided to quit tennis 5 years ago, then I discovered the padel. I fell in love, I have a lot of fun and I had the chance to progress quickly. It lasts.

  • What do you think of padel feminine ?

Le padel feminine grows. There are more and more spectators around the fields and the prices are increasing every year. We (Alix and Nicole Traviesa) need to improve our first laps although we are in the final table, so it's positive. Yes I believe the padel feminine progress on the right track.

  • Your favorite player?

I work and train with Marta Marrero. It's the boss. I admire her a lot for her winning attitude. Whatever the results she returns to training with this beautiful attitude.

  • What do you think of your season with Nicole Traviesa?

We did not expect such results. We work together and we get along well on the track. The objective would be the final 1 / 4 (objective achieved in Paris during the Challenger).

  • How is the atmosphere inside the circuit?

Coming from tennis, the atmosphere is completely different. Although I do not know all the players, I can only say that we all get along very well, we encourage each other and we help each other. On the other hand on the field it's something else, that's what I like in this sport.

  • Your long-term goals?

I do not really like to talk about my goals, let alone long-term goals, but if I joined this team in Barcelona and coach Juan Alday, it's because I want to be one of the best players. I work hard for that and I hope it will pay. On the other hand I would retain a sentence of my trainer: "Let us take pleasure during the way, it is the most important".

Thank you Alix and WPT for this exclusive interview at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
