Last October 18, near Castellon in Spain, the General Assembly of the International Federation of Padel (FIP). A 29th GA which brought together a large number of nations, present elsewhere for the World Minors. Feedback on this meeting and the points discussed.

The start of the meeting was clearly oriented towards the clashes and rumors which inflamed the media. The President of the FIP, Luigi Carraro calmed everyone by highlighting the work carried out by the Federation of Valenciana of Padel for the organization of the World Cup for Minors, and warmly thanked Spain, its Federation and the Superior Sports Council.

Subsequently, the President made a return on the points discussed and treated this year, with the current team of FIP, among which:

  • The unification of the ranking with that of the WPT
  • The consolidation of FIP's current partners and the integration of 2 new partners
  • The new circuit of the FIP Tour which will allow the development of padel around the world
  • The wish to present the padel via the small screen with the agreement concluded with the Sky channel for the retransmission of the European championship at the beginning of November. The announcement of new partners in this direction is expected soon.
  • The FIP explained to the members the relationship with the European Olympic Committees for the insertion of the padel to the European Games in Krakow in 2023, then the future discussion and negotiation with the organizers to insert the padel at the 2023 Pan American Championships to be held in Chile. All this with a single objective, the padel at the Olympic games
  • The announcement to the members of the FIP's signature with the GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federation) and the ITF (International Tennis Federation) that will allow the FIP to be followed more closely. The details will appear soon.

All the members recognized the points mentioned above and agreed that the FIP looks at the next World Championships of padel and the veteran championships in 2020.

To note, the entry of 6 new member countries: China, Russia, Armenia, San Marino, Ireland and Egypt.

Finally, the directive part of the FIP is delighted that all the decisions taken have been voted on unanimously and hopes that this cohesion between the member countries will continue for the good of the padel worldwide and for its development.
