Le padel is a racquet sport derived from tennis and squash played on a smaller court framed by glass and fencing.

The calculation of the score is the same as tennis and the balls used are similar but with a slightly lower pressure. It is played only in doubles and the service must be done with the spoon. The biggest difference that can be found with tennis is that balls can be played after bouncing on walls or toasting in a manner similar to squash.

The origin of sport

This sport was born in Mexico thanks to Enrique Corcuera who wanted to build a tennis court around his house but did not have enough space. So he built a 20m 10m court flanked by high walls from 3 to 4m. It is in 1974 that his friend Alfonso de Hohenlohe travels from Spain to visit him and takes a liking to this practice. He will bring back the idea with him to Marbella in Spain.

After studying the correct design of the court and the rules of the game, the first two courts are built in this city. The concept will spread on the Spanish coast.

Very quickly tennis players are attracted and tournaments are organized. A millionaire friend from Hohenlohe who regularly attends Marbella is impressed by this game and brings it with him to Argentina.
