It's a difficult end to the day for the French team with two defeats in the ladies' and men's events. Medal hopes are dashed as Adrien Maigret / Benjamin Tison and Jessica Ginier / Lucile Pothier were close to the semi-finals of the European Games.

On the men's side, there was reason to be optimistic about the Portuguese pair Miguel Oliveira and Alfonso Fazendeiro. Two well-known players from the France team who we managed to tame at the end of last year during the world championships. We knew that Miguel was on his way back and therefore not yet 100% on the field, if we are to believe his latest results in the FIP tournament. Benjamin Tison and Adrien Maigret were well armed with great victories to their credit. But it is a defeat in two sets 7/6 7/6 which erases the dreams of the two French players. The last images illustrate their great disappointment. They know it, the stars were aligned, but the Portuguese have decided otherwise.

Seed 5 took over seed 4 in the men's draw. And yet, the French had opportunities. With a converted break point out of 5 obtained, in such close matches, we can pay dearly for them at the end of the match. Especially since on the Portuguese side, they managed to convert the only break point obtained in the match, this shows the seriousness of the French on their commitments.

We believed in it until the end, feeling that the French had more offensive weapons in their game, but it wasn't enough.
