Currently 93rd in the ranking of World Padel Tour, Juan Martin Diaz intends to come back stronger when the WPT season resumes.

Interviewed by the World Padel Tour, Juan Martin Diaz, almost 45, gives reassuring news about his future on the slopes after his knee injury.

  • On his injury:

“It was a very difficult year, three operations, one infection, they had to open my synovial cavity, but I'm still here, it's the second time this has happened to me in this late career, so I try to give it all, be optimistic, and I can't wait for the season to start ”

  • On its current form:

“I'm much fitter than I expected, I have almost no pain, my knee is much stronger, and I have an incredible urge to play. I did not participate in the Marbella Master as a precaution, but I was ready to play. I'm not yet the level I would like to be, but I'm ready for the competition. ”

  • On the pair he sees dominate

“I think this year will be like last year, a very hot season, with a lot of competitive teams. I really like Navarro and Lima, not only because they won the first tournament, but I find Paquito more mature, Pablo is a rock, it's always a guarantee on his side, but you shouldn't bury it either the other teams, I think there will be a lot of winners, but, yes, if I had to choose only one pair, I would take Lima / Navarro ”

  • Which Juan Martin in 2020?

“I don't know, I'm trying to get back to the best level possible, with Campagnolo we train together, it's not easy. I always say that it is not necessarily easy to play next to me, and especially at my age and with this injury. But we take pleasure in training, Martin Etchegaray helps us a lot, and I think you will see a Juan Martin with a lot of will. I do not know if I will be different in terms of the game, but I will have the desire and I will try to annoy my opponents as much as possible! ”

  • The final word

“I would like to thank the fans of the World Padel Tour to follow us, and in the current situation, I would like to tell them to be reasonable, to stay at home, and thanks to that, we will soon overcome the virus. Hi everyone, and I hope we see each other at a tournament soon! ”
