With the organization in France more and more tournaments of padel, it was necessary to find a point system as fair as possible for all competitors and to harmonize it throughout the territory.

For 2 years now, the FFT has set up a tournament system that makes it easier to navigate when it comes to doing the accounts. There are 4 categories from the smallest called P100 to P1000. Here is the presentation of the different categories of tournaments and some advice for those who would like to get into the deep end of the competition in 2018!

1) 4 Tournament Categories

Each tournament brings the winners the maximum number of points of its denomination. The winners of a P250 will score 250 points each, for example. To be able to homologate a tournament in a certain category, clubs must provide a total prize-money equivalent to:

  • P100: from 0 € to 249 €
  • P250: from 250 € to 499 €
  • P500: from 500 € to 999 €
  • P1000: 1000 € minimum

2) Prize-Money

Here are the recommendations of the FFT regarding the distribution of money in tournaments even if each club remains free to do what he wants.

  • The number of points

The number of points won by each player depends on their final ranking but also on the number of pairs entered in the tournament according to the following scales.

4) The individual ranking

To get the ranking of each player, the FFT takes into account his 10 best results on the last 12 months. The system is modeled on the ATP system, which means that you take into account your 10 best results on 12 sliding months. The month of February 2018 will replace the month of February 2017 at the time of the publication of the next classification of 19 March.

Here are the latest 2 20 french top in the February 15.

5) Our advice

GET STARTED! All these figures, tables and rankings should not take you away from the game that we all love. Find out about the clubs near you on the next approved tournaments and take the leap.

Unlike tennis where you lose your first match and where you often don't have a second chance, most tournaments padel guarantee 2 to 3 parts minimum. This will allow you to gauge yourself against other opponents and meet new players for your training games!
