Lucile Pothier and her partner Jessica Ginier lost Wednesday 6/3 6/1 against the Spanish pair Talaván / Rufo. But before that, the French player had agreed to take part in the game of questions and answers to Padel Magazine.

The Palais des Sports, an incredible place

“At first when you enter the Sports Palace, you find it quite impressive. When you then enter the track, you find yourself very small and as you play, you find your feelings, your bearings.”

His best memory: Monaco

“My best memory is undoubtedly in Monaco, this year when we won with Jessica. It was a pretty crazy tournament. We arrived on the first day, we almost lost in the first match, but in the end we ended up winning until Sunday, it was just great!

The worst memory, I think, is at the World Championships last year when we lost against Belgium in Dubai.

Ideal partner? Already found

“My ideal partner? It's simple, I've already found it, it's Jessica Ginier. Since I moved to the right, I think that on the left, I need a player who is fast enough, aggressive enough because I tend to be too calm.

It's true that Jess through her experience brings me a lot because I'm still quite new in the padel. I'm often told that I still don't play enough padel, she brings me all her experience on this so for me, it is a rather important detail.”

Everything in control

“I've always needed a racquet with enough control because it's true that I like the volley, the drops... I like to have my feelings and in terms of power, I'm not looking for a racquet very powerful. I rely a lot on control and comfort.”

The human Padel Open

“I think today in terms of experience and tournaments, I'm really good, so I would say my favorite tournament is the Human Padel Open.”

€2000 in prize money

“My biggest prize money was in Monaco where we won €2000 each. It was pretty crazy with the big check. Well we still haven't received it (laughs) but we are looking forward to it.”

Calm … or not

“It will surprise some people because people often say that I am very calm, but I once broke a racquet during a match. I had started very badly and taken from nervousness, I rub it on the ground and it breaks. This is where I realized that a racket padel, it was quite fragile and since then I haven't broken another.”

The good and the less good padel

"In the padel, I love this friendly side that I had lost a bit in tennis, where I found myself doing my tournaments on my own while at padel this competitive side, being in a group, it's great! But also the fact of meeting people who come from everywhere when you go to clubs.

What I like least are often the tennis players who arrive with ease at the padel and who make it understood. This side where they lose their humility a bit, we don't need that at the padel. "

Ski

“As a favorite activity outside of padel, I love to ski in winter. I come from Savoie so it's normal.”

The French championships, my best experience

“As the craziest experience, I have in mind the French championships last year. It was a great experience and I have very good memories of it.”
