It was his friend Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, property developer and founder of the Marbella Club, who was instrumental in this expansion.

He was responsible for bringing it to Spain and introducing it to the Costa del Sol in 1974, building two tracks in his hotel-club, the first to be built in Spain.

Between 1980 and 1990, the courts of the Marbella Club hosted the famous "Pro-Am" tournaments, sponsored by the "Smith & Smith" stores of Las Arenas, owned by the man who would become the first president of the International Federation of Padel (1991), Julio Alegría Artiach, one of the most important people in the history of this sport and who established international regulations on the padel.
