Back from Peru, Océane Kik won the P1000 from Denain, with Charlotte Villeminot. She did us the honor of answering several questions.

First of all, note that the interview was carried out at the start of confinement, before the decision of the French Tennis Federation to cancel the French Championships of padel and FFT Padel Tour.

Padel Magazine : You are one of the players summoned to the French team rally. The worlds with France, one of your objectives?

Océane Kik: Obviously, I am thinking of the France team, all the players of padel dream of it. They are great experiences. There is a long way to go and everything will depend on performance " padelistics ”and on investment. And to get there, my first motivation is to join the top 15 while having fun on the pitch, with my partner.

PM: So, who is your partner for this year 2020?

OK : This year, I will be playing alongside Charlotte Villeminot. We made this choice of association because we have the same ambitions and we have a very good bond, whether on or off the field. The results and our cohesion on the first tournaments were satisfactory, so we decided to go on an adventure together.

PM: You spent 6 months in Peru (from March to August 2019), you were able to train a little padel ? Where is the development of our sport there?

OKAY : If you want to play padel in Peru, there is the club Padel Lima-Du-Gol, located in Surquillo, which has two tracks. However, there are very few licensees. As much to say to you that I did not have the opportunity to test the grounds. Unfortunately the padel is not a famous sport and the economic situation of the country does not allow to offer quality infrastructures, unlike France.

PM: And didn't you miss it too much?

OKAY : After an absence of 6 months, the padel and its atmosphere I missed very much. Certainly, I was far from the land but I followed the adventures of padel through broadcasts or Facebook pages dedicated to this sport. A big thank you by the way! I really enjoyed following the p2000s live, with a general level that keeps climbing.

PM: So did you get back to it? Wasn't the recovery too complicated?

OKAY : The recovery was difficult. I knew very well that by living this experience, I was going to suffer some consequences, including my great fall in the rankings! Regarding the physique, no problem on this point… 😉 I am very happy to have found the club of Padel attitude in Lille as well as its players and I train thoroughly whenever I have the opportunity.

PM: Unfortunately with the confinement, couldn't you play a lot? Do you still hit the ball a little in the garden like many?

OKAY :  It seems complicated to me to play padel in my garden without a pala (laughs). Due to the announcement of confinement, I did not have time to take my snowshoes on board. 🙁 Otherwise, I use beach rackets. And I still have my body to do physical sessions. Thank you Padel Mag for this interview and strongly that we find ourselves on the circuit. Good luck everyone and stay at home!

PM: Thank you Océane! Good luck to you !
