The P1000 ladies and men ended this weekend in the My Center Palavas club. The top seeds have had their rank respected and have made the law in Hérault.

Ligi / Phaysouphanh with seriousness and application

P1000 Palavas ladies final

Prior to the final, Fiona and Tiffany had only surrendered seven games in three encounters. Facing the number 2 seed, Mélanie Ros and Amélie Detrivière, Ligi and Phaysouphanh first surfed on their good momentum during the first round. Ros and Detriviere, meanwhile, were erratic and failed to upset the tournament's No. 1 seed. The first round is one-way, Fiona and Tiffany take the lead and win the first set 6/2.

Once again too tender, Amélie and Mélanie are broken and run after the score. Ligi and Phaysouphanh then lead 4/1 in the second round and go straight for the title. However, the seeded number 2 did not abdicate, against all odds she made a break. Quickly, Mélanie and Amélie return to a game of their opponents. Unfortunately, their awakening was late and despite sustained efforts, Tiffany Phaysouphanh and Fiona Ligi kept their seriousness and calm to win in two sets: 6/2 and 6/4.

P1000 Palavas ladies final stat

Tiffany Phaysouphanh adds a fifth title to her collection this season (previously winning at Albi, Sète, Toulon, Bandol and Palavas). The one who had triumphed during the last P1000 in Bandol expands its trophy cabinet with this time a new partner: Fiona Ligi. Moreover, this victory allows him to equal his usual partner, Marie-Amélie Dardaine., who also dropped out 5 titles during this season (in Créteil, Albi, Sète, Toulon and Bandol).

A victory that feels good for Fiona Ligi. the player from Perpignan had not managed to capture any trophy during this season. Fiona thus ends a series of three defeats in the final in 2023. Aspiring to find the blue jersey from next October, it confirms its rise to power thanks to this victory at Palavas. As the Mas club player prepares to enjoy a well-deserved vacation, she is still awaiting confirmation from a teammate for the P2000 in Colomiers, given the unavailability of Laura Clergue.

Le Panse / Ayuso: a realism of champions

Loic Le Panse - Quentin Ayuso Palavas

As in the semi-finals, Norman Sanchez and Damien Bayard missed their start to the match. From the first exchanges, Quentin Ayuso and Loïc Le Panse imposed their rhythm, quickly taking the reins of this final. Once again Loïc delights the public with his emblematic panache and combativeness. Quickly, Le Panse and Ayuso lead 3/0 in this first round. Behind, the debates are balanced, and despite two break opportunities, Norman Sanchez and Damien Bayard failed to come back to score, thus conceding the first set, 6/3.

Loic Le Panse - Quentin Ayuso - final - Sanchez - Bayard

The second set followed the same trajectory as the end of the first set, where neither team managed to snatch the opponent's serve. Although Le Panse and Ayuso continued to threaten as they created several break opportunities, Quentin and Norman held on.. However, once again the No. 1 seeds sped up at the opportune moment and pulled off a break at 5-4.

We then think that Norman and Damien will not return, but against all odds, the two players get two break points at 15/40. In a last game of madness, the two pairs go blow for blow, Loïc and Quentin will then save 6 break points. Norman Sanchez and Damien Bayard do not convert their chances. The first match point of Le Panse and Ayuso is the good one, victory in two sets 6/3 6/4.

On their eight break chances, Norman Sanchez and Damien Bayard failed to convert either : set 1 – (0/2); set 2 – (0/6). Le Panse and Ayuso showed realism in the first round: set 1 – (1/1); set 2 – (1/5).

P1000 Palavas final stat men

Quentin Ayuso and Loïc Le Panse had a solid tournament in Palavas. The number 1 seed has not lost a single set. With seriousness, they logically impose themselves on Hérault land and have their rank respected. After being surprised at the P1500 in duo with Nicolas Trancart, Loïc was able to bounce back brilliantly at Palavas. One more time, the 37-year-old demonstrated the full extent of his technique and his emblematic touch, which are still as effective as ever.

A little more discreet in this finale, the “metronome” Quentin Ayuso nevertheless produced a solid tournament, marked in particular by a remarkable quarter-final performance against Hugounenq and Delvienne, TS5. The victory at Palavas put an end to a series of three consecutive defeats in the final for Quentin (Esprit Padel, Béziers and P1500 in Sète) during this season.

You can relive the finals on the channel of Padel Magazine TV.
