Dardaine and Phaysouphanh, queens of the P1000s

P1000 Bandol Phaysouphanh Dardaine 2

The champions of the PACA region played almost at home this weekend in Bandol. Such a special tournament for Marie-Amélie Dardaine who often trains in the Var club, which now has 7 padel.

During the tournament, the tricolor pair did not have it easy. In the round of 6 and quarter-finals, Tiffany and Marie-Amélie overcame the matches in two sets, winning 0/6 1/6 against Pucciarini/Pironneau, then 3/6 1/XNUMX against Pelan/Lovera. In the semi-final, the number 1 seed was put to the test by Melanie Ros and Marie Maligo. After losing the first set 7/5, Dardaine and Phaysouphanh regained their energy and finally triumphed in three sets 5/7 6/3 6/3.

In the final, they faced the tournament's number 2 seed, Fiona Ligi and the Spaniard Elisabeth Nogueras. The latter had not conceded a single set since the start of the tournament despite the big alert from Fiona's side with her fall and the shock at the odds.

Dardaine and Phaysouphanh start the match with seriousness, dictating the rhythm and achieving a break at 3/1. Ligi and Nogueras are constantly under pressure and making mistakes. In total control, Marie-Amélie and Tiffany easily won the first round, 6/2.

In the second round, Fiona and Elisabeth regain the momentum they had lost. The latter even manage to make a break for the first time in this match. However, each time, Marie-Amélie and Tiffany come back tied. At 5/5, the Franco-Spanish pair got two break points to take the lead at 6/5, but failed to materialize them. Next, Dardaine and Phaysouphanh exploit the mistakes of their opponents and win the match in two sets, 6/2 7/5.

In the space of two months, Tiffany Phaysouphanh and Marie-Amélie Dardaine have triumphed four times in P1000 : first in Albi and Toulouse in june, then in Sète in July, and now in Bandol. The one who aims for a place in the French team just added a fifth P1000 title to his season, knowing that the first had been conquered alongside from Louise Bahurel to Créteil last January. The Dardaine / Phaysouphanh pair is doing damage and it will be necessary to keep an eye on it during the next French championship.

The marathon of Arthur Hugounenq and Baptiste Delvienne

P1000 Bandol Delvienne and Hugounenq winners

The Hugounenq/Delvienne pair constantly impressed us throughout the tournament. As seeded number 6, the Hérault duo managed to thwart the odds. In the round of XNUMX, Arthur and Baptiste triumphed in two sets, 6/2 6/4, against Valentin Durand and Thomas Seux.

From quarter-finals, the real marathon has begun. First of all, facing the number 2 seed, Loic Le Panse and Alexandra Toppin, Arthur and Baptiste won a fierce battle with a score of 6/4 3/6 6/4. In semi final, they were faced with the Strasbourg pair Muesser/Wagner, seeded number 4. After having lost the first round 6/4, Arthur and Baptiste reversed the situation and imposed themselves 4/6 6 / 4 7 / 5.

In the final, Arthur and Baptiste face the duo Rouanet / Sanchez (seeded 3). In the first set, the two pairs engage in a fierce fight, but neither manages to gain the upper hand over the other. During the tie-break, Sanchez and Rouanet take the advantage by leading 4/2. However, Hugounenq and Delvienne raise their level of play at the right time, completely reverse the situation and win the first round by winning 7/4 in the tiebreak.

None of the pairs managed to break in the first round, it is quite the opposite in the second. Nicolas Rouanet and Norman Sanchez finally seem to have found the solution, but they are constantly caught up by Hugounenq and Delvienne. The latter are sublime in defense and offer the public a big show with in particular two magnificent counterattacks by Baptiste Delvienne after Par 3 saved by Norman Sanchez. The players of My Center Palavas even create two match points, but these are erased by Sanchez and “La Rouan”. Once again a tie-break looms, but this time it turns out in favor of Nicolas and Norman who win with an eloquent 7/0.

The two match points weigh heavily on Arthur and Baptiste's morale, you would think that the Hérault duo would be tested after this third match in three sets, but against all odds, they find the resources necessary to make the entry break in the deciding round. Rouanet and Sanchez try to catch up, even getting four break points in this set, but fail to convert them. With exceptional resistance, Arthur Hugounenq and Baptiste Delvienne won once again in three sets 7/6 6/7 6/4 in a grand finale.

This is the second title of the season in P1000 for the Hugounenq/Delvienne pair which had already won last June at Toulon against Alex Toppin and Florian Hue on a score of 6/3 6/4.

P1000 Bandol Delvienne

But this one has a special flavor for Baptiste Delvienne (68ᵉ French player), who achieved an exceptional performance in the final "We just won one of the toughest P1000s of the year without even knowing it. We had won Toulon, but for this one, we did not expect it at all given the quality of the teams. I think it's my most memorable tournament. With Arthur, we will try to continue playing together, everything will depend on my work. One thing is certain, we will play together in Palavas. As for the P1500 and P2000 tournaments, I hope he can partner with higher ranked players.”

From now on, 'The Hug' knows the recipe for winning the P1000: just team up with the 'King of the P500′. Who knows, in the future it might even become the 'King of the P1000s'.

Not enough for the top 100

For the record, Cyril Hanouna and Johan Bergeron won 480 points thanks to a 13ᵉ place in this P1000 and a memorable match against Jover / Lorenzo. This performance is not sufficient to ensure the Top 100. Continuation of the adventures at My Center Palavas for the next P1000.
