Out of the World Top 100 this week, Thomas Leygue had a great run to get out of the P2 previas at Puerto Cabello where a first lap that smells like powder awaits him. The Frenchman, associated with Fran Ramirez, will face the Spaniards Enrique Goenaga and Teo Zapata.

The French number one, seeded four in qualifying, delivered great performances in Venezuela, notably against Aitor Garcia and Henrique Barbosa (6/4 – 6/4). The Franco-Spanish pair inherited an interesting draw for the first round of the final draw against regulars in the main draw, and well known in France.

Enrique Goenaga distinguished himself in our borders with a final of the FIP Rise in Bourg-en-Bresse last November. The 45th player in the world, who will be diagonally behind the Frenchman, is a very fast right-hander.

His teammate is much better known in France through his partnership with Cyril Hanouna in certain French competitions. Teo Zapata is an explosive player and excellent finisher on the left. The Spaniard will take his place opposite Leygue, the duel could well settle into the parallel when the 43rd player in the world seeks to be aggressive.

On paper, the Iberian team has the advantage. Goenaga and Zapata have already reached the second round at the Qatar Major and even the third round in Riyadh with a victory over Ramiro Moyano and Francisco Gil. The Frenchman will have to pull out all the stops to avoid the power of his opponents, and Francisco Ramirez will obviously have his role to play in Zapata's diagonal.

The match is scheduled in the second rotation after the afternoon session in Venezuela, around 23 p.m. French time.
