Beware of the watered sprinkler: this rule sometimes ignored by the padel was illustrated this Thursday during the very tight match between Bela/Coello to Esbri/Alonso. While Arturo Coello had just hit a smash that was definitely a winner because it was out of reach for the defenders, the point could still have been lost...

How ? We explain to you.

Don't get hit by the ball

Coello's ball violently hit the back window, rose in the sky before touching the top of the fence, and returning to the track on the side of Belasteguin. We then saw the latter quickly bend down so as not to be hit by this ball.

If the ball had hit Bela before falling to the ground, the point would have been lost for the WPT No. 3 seed Buenos Aires. Indeed, on a smash, the point is considered won only if the ball touches the ground a second time (or crosses the back grid in the case of a par 4).

If outings are authorized, the ball remains playable as long as it has not bounced off the field – or touched a mast, the referee's chair...

But if the ball comes back into the spiker's court and hits one of the two players before the rebound, it's point lost!

Au padel as in the “cat”, it is forbidden to retouch

That the FFT regulations translated as follows: "If the player having spiked, or his partner, touches the ball before it comes back to bounce in his court, the point will then be lost for the pair having spiked".

A rule that we can remember when remembering a children's game: in the "cat", when we are touched, it is forbidden to touch up. As for moviegoers, we will encourage them to be wary of "L'arroseur arrosé".
