The new flagship French pair, made up of Thomas Leygue and Johan Bergeron, agreed to answer our questions about this promising association.

"Our respective partners are not afraid"

Padel Magazine : By choosing to join forces, Benjamin and Bastien, your respective partners on the French circuit, weren't afraid that it would harm your peers?

Thomas Leygue : "They are not afraid of our association, because they know that it has no impact on the French circuit"

Johan Bergeron : “No they are not afraid, I had asked Well and he is very happy. We are quite free as a duo. »

Padel Magazine : Quite absurd, but could a Blanqué / Tison association on the international circuit be possible?

Thomas Leygue : “Blocked/Brand on the WPT ou Premier Padel ? I do not believe. There is too much difference in the ranking between Ben and Bastien, and above all I don't see them playing together too much. They don't have styles of play that complement each other in my opinion. »

Johan Bergeron : “Blanqué / Tison internationally? No I don't think so either. »

“We are very happy to be able to play together”

Padel Magazine : Thomas, what does it mean to you to be able to play with Jo? What are the keys to this new association in your opinion?

Thomas Leygue : “I think that a proposal from Jo with the level of play he has at the moment, it cannot be refused. He did a lot of good results on the WPT, we are a pair with a fairly similar style of play and we are very happy to be able to play together. I think we can complement each other very well, and besides, we get along really well off the track. Admittedly, we were able to meet many times on the field as rivals, but it always went well and I don't see why it wouldn't work as partners. »

Padel Magazine : Can you have a better chance of having a wild-card Premier Padel with this association?

Thomas Leygue : “I think it increases our chances yes, especially since we are a 100% French pair. In the FIP ranking I risk going number 2 and Jo number 3 (French). We would therefore form the best French pair at once, which could be a real advantage! »
