It was the final we were all waiting for! This Sunday morning was the “clasico” between the former world premieres and the current numbers 1.
Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay were looking to regain their confidence against compatriots Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, who remained on four titles and a final in the last five tournaments.

Salazar – Triay on top speed

If there is a duo who had the knife between their teeth more than ever in Santander, it is that made up of the Madrilenian and her Mallorcan partner.

Indeed the two players have experienced a drop in speed during the last two tournaments (Madrid and Amsterdam), which has allowed their great rivals this season to monopolize the throne of padel World.

After an early game in favor of Josemaria / Sanchez, Rodri Ovide's players imposed a solid and aggressive style. Like a metronome, Salazar managed to control the pace of the game during this first round, displaying incredible regularity and often pushing Josemaria to make mistakes. On the left, Gemma deployed all her offensive arsenal and finished the job.

In less than an hour the latter won the first set 6/2.

Unplayable numbers 2

In the second round, Salazar and Triay continued their momentum and after seeing a break, they managed to take a nice advantage over their rivals. Sanchez and Josemaria looked extinguished and failed to counter their opponents' attacks. Distraught, the world numbers 1 could not do anything against the steamroller they had in front of them.

After only 1h17 min of play, Alejandra and Gemma win 6/2 – 6/1 and send a very clear message: they are still in the race to recover their throne!
