The “barges” caused a sensation in Italy during this FIP Rise Agrigento. Wendy Barsotti and Elodie Invernon won the last game of the evening this Saturday: 6/3, 4/6, 7/6 against the Spanish-Argentinian pair Montesi / Cossio Capilla.

Wendy Barsotti reflects on her quarter:

“We had a very good first set. In the 2ᵉ set, we lead 4/2 with a break in advance. But we are unbreaked in the process: 4 everywhere. We then lose this second set which was nevertheless within our reach.

The game is completely restarted. In the 3ᵉ set, the opponents play well and take advantage of our small mistakes to lead 4/1. Then we go into “remontada” mode, managing to unbreak and come back to 4 everywhere.

The 3ᵉ set is a real battle. We are going to the tie-break and I think we showed great mental strength by winning 7/3, which allows us to reach the semi-final of this FIP Rise in Italy.”

Next match against the Dutch pair Hemmes (168ᵉ FIP) / Segou Jonker (144ᵉ FIP) at 17 p.m.
