The Absoluto Spanish Championships start in 10 days! Its counterpart in France is the French championship of padel. We will try to explain to you how this Spanish championship works and how we can compare it with our French championship.

The Spanish National Championship: A step in its own right

In Spain, the senior national championships are grouped into a separate stage of the circuit. There are never any tournaments World Padel Tour during the competition. This is a great big competition for 7 days (April 23-29 in Las Palmas in 2018).

Unlike France, no places reserved for regional champions. The final table places will go to the highest ranked players and players. On the other hand, there will be pre-qualifications and qualifications on the spot.

Only Spaniards have the right to participate in the competition even if a derogation can be granted to residents on Spanish soil.

This year the Spanish championship will take place in the Canaries in Las Palmas at the "La Calzada" club. 12.000m2 dedicated to padel with 17 tracks including 4 panoramic.

The Spanish championship of Padel financially endowed

The championship of Spain is endowed financially. All the Spanish players and players of the circuit will be present to dispute the succession in the women of the binoculars Alayeto number 1 world, and among the men of Ale Galan and Juani Mieres.

The Spanish Federation of Padel, offers accommodation in a 4-star hotel for all participants in the final draw (32 teams in each draw) and an aid of € 50 for the first 100 registered is given to help with transport costs.

A comparison with the French championships 2018?

The final phases of the French championships of padel 2018 will take place with 24 qualified teams in each table (16 only in 2017). 18 places are reserved for regional champions and 6 places will be allocated to drafted (a priori the best ranked among the semi-finalists of the regional stages).

The FFT will contribute to the travel and accommodation expenses of each participant but there will be no prize money distributed.

This system will allow each region to have its representative in the final table but we can ask the question of the interest of qualifying players out top 50 / 60 French while some top 30 see top national 20 should remain at the House.

Why not organize on-site qualifications for all the teams (champions in their region or not) who do not directly enter the final table with their classification?

This would surely allow a real national holiday of padel and to have the strongest final table of the year!

To meditate for future years.
